Zaha Hadid Retrospective Exhibition @ LACMA
Design & Art Direction

Design & art direction for a
speculative retrospective of
Zaha Hadid’s work at LACMA
in Los Angeles.

Zaha Hadid’s work consists of asymmetrical fluid curvilinear features. She utilizes her background in mathematics to bring elements of geometry into her structures. Her belief was that architecture should be liberated from its previous conventions to give way to expressive identities and spaces. Wanting to go beyond architectural models and stereotypes, she transformed spatial and theoretical ideas into experimental structures.

The idea for the identity of this speculative retrospective exhibition stems from Hadid’s work based on its theoretical identity and experience. The artwork showcased throughout the identity system represents Hadid’s Heydar Aliyev Center, the first intellectual hall and museum in Baku, Azerbaijan. This structure was chosen to parallel Hadid’s pioneering career.
